BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Office of Fiscal services is requesting the Board to approve an agreement between Genesee County and Mannik Smith Group. This agreement will outline the scope of work that is required in demolishing the old JJC building.
BACKGROUND:
During the past summer, the JJC staff and residences moved into a new facility. The old structure is now vacant and ready to be demolished. In order for the structure to be demolished, an asbestos survey needs to be done, bid specifications need to be prepared, management and oversight for the demolition needs to be done.
DISCUSSION:
JJC is now in a new facility. The old structure needs to be demolished so that plans for a parking and other uses for the land can begin. The County is requesting that Mannik Smith provide the necessary oversight in getting the old structured demolished. Mannik Smith has provided previous assistance in demolishing the old McDonald Dairy site and they are extending their services for the JJC project as well. Their pricing is based on past solicitation from the Land Bank for similar work. They will ensure that the property is demolished in a manner that is in compliance with state and federal laws.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Purchasing Administrator to authorize an agreement between Genesee County and Mannick Smith Group, whereby the contractor will provide demolition assistance services of the old Genesee Valley Regional Center building, at a cost not to exceed $143,000.00 to be paid from account 4920-356.00-974.005, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the October 16, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County after approval of the contract by Corporation Counsel.
