BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Court is requesting approval of a contract extension between Genesee County and Genesee Health System (GHS), in an amount not to exceed $85,000, to provide behavioral health services for youth at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center; the term of this extension is from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026; the cost will be paid from account 2920-356.00-801.028.
BACKGROUND:
GHS will provide behavioral health services for youth at the Juvenile Justice Center, including mental health and trauma screening, psychiatric evaluations, psychosocial assessments, medication reviews, case management services, and therapy services. The underlying agreement between the parties is reflected in Resolution # 2024-1232.
DISCUSSION:
Youth at the Juvenile Justice Center present with significant mental health and trauma issues. To provide the best standard of care, it is critical that youth receive a wide array of behavioral health services while at the Center. GHS will provide clinical staff on-site who will provide assessments, crisis counseling, and referrals for further evaluation. Additional services provided are mental health and trauma screening, psychiatric evaluations, psychosocial assessments, medication reviews, case management services, and therapy services.
