BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to obtain a purchase order (PO) for Genesee Packaging, Inc. not to exceed $35,000.00 for fiscal year 2026 (FY26), with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD's USDA Supplemental Food Program provides supplemental food boxes to eligible seniors monthly through the Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and individuals and families facing a food crisis quarterly through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
DISCUSSION:
This PO will be utilized by GCCARD's USDA Supplemental Food Program to purchase the boxes necessary to package USDA foods for distribution through CSFP and TEFAP. This local vendor, Genesee Packaging, was chosen for quoting a significantly lower price per unit than nationwide vendors such as Uline or Staples.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds for this PO are to be allocated as follows: $17,500.00 to fund number 2759-697.30-801.002 and $17,500.00 to fund number 2757-697.30-801.002. No General Fund appropriation is required for this request.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on technology.
