BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
To authorize and approve a Purchase Order request to Zoetis in an amount not to exceed $60,000.00 to remit during FY26/27 to purchase necessary vaccines and other medical supplies.

BACKGROUND:
Zoetis is the current vendor that provides Animal Care with vaccines and other medical supplies at low cost shelter discounted pricing. Animal Care provides Distemper (DHLPP/DHPP), Bordetella, Rabies, Feline RCP vaccinations, Heartworm/FELV FIV testing to all dogs and cats during intakes. As the population we serve are considered stray animals, no known medical knowledge is available upon intake. Therefore, Animal Care provides necessary preventative vaccinations to ensure positive outcomes for our adoptable, rescue, fostered and shelter to shelter transferred animals. Animal Care also vaccinates animals in our TNR (Trap,Neuter and Release) program for community feral cats. Annually we also provide public shot clinics to aid in the health and welfare of owned animals.
DISCUSSION:
Animal Care intakes over 4000 stray running at large animals annually, services community feral cats, and aids in vaccinating owned animals through our community based free shot clinics. This assists in the overall health and welfare of the County’s ever-growing animal population. Zoetis is Animal Care’s existing vendor that supplies these needs to meet the preventative care required.
