BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of an agreement between Genesee County and the Genesee County Agricultural Society, in the amount of $40,000, to provide advertising for the Genesee County Fair; the cost of this agreement will be paid using Accommodation Tax Funding.
BACKGROUND:
Annually, the Board of County Commissioners enters an agreement with the Agricultural Society to provide funding to be used to attract visitors for the Genesee County Fair.
DISCUSSION:
Accommodation tax funding is an appropriate funding source to be used to promote tourism. Annually, the Genesee County Fair draws visitors from across our region. This funding will be used to promote the event regionally.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There is no impact on HR.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
This is a budgeted expense within the Accommodation Tax Fund.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on Facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on Technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
By supporting events within our community, the Board of Commissioners are promoting a sense of place and community growth.
