BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a request to appoint Commissioners Shumaker and Brown as members of the Flint Cultural Center Foundation (“the FCCF) Board of Directors.

BACKGROUND:
Chairman Loyd is recommending the appointment of Commissioners Shumaker and Brown to serve on the FCCF.

DISCUSSION:
Each new session, the Board Chair makes recommendations to the full Board for the appointment of commissioners to certain boards and commissioners.  With the election of new commissioners, some previous appointees to the FCCF can no longer serve.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Board of Commissioners has adopted the priority of Community Growth. In serving on the FCCF Board, commissioners will work to direct spending that aids in creating a sense of place that helps to attract and keep residents in Genesee County.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:

                     WHEREAS, the Genesee County Board of County Commissioners (“this Board”) is authorized to appoint members to the Flint Cultural Center Foundation (“the FCCF”) Board of Directors; and

                     WHEREAS, this Board wishes to make such an appointment at this time.

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby appoints Commissioner Shaun Shumaker and Commissioner Beveryly Brown to be members of the FCCF Board of Directors.

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appointee is subject to removal by this Board pursuant to Resolution No. 2023-273, and any relevant statutory authority.
