BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve and Sign the amended agreement
BACKGROUND:
Samaritan Fund Program offers an alternative coverage to high-cost members by utilizing programs established for certain diagnoses.
DISCUSSION:
Samaritan provides the service based on a set fee that has increased by $5,000, to $60,000 per enrolled individual. There are no additional claims following the enrollment. This approach offers significant savings to the County.

Administration, Outreach for employee enrollment.

Expected cost savings, amount determined after potential participants are identified and agree to move to program.

The move to Samaritan continues the efforts for long term financial stability both for the county and the employees/retirees who take advantage of the program.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Deputy Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations to authorize a consulting agreement between Genesee County and the Samaritan Fund Program, LLC, to provide alternative health care coverage for high cost members, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the September 16, 2026 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute any contract documents on behalf of Genesee County.
