BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Office of Genesee County Sheriff is requesting the Board to authorize payroll for Marine Patrol Deputies prior to the Board approval of the positions. Due to the training requirements for Marine Patrol Deputies and ensuring the staff was trained in preparation for the Memorial Day weekend. The Sheriff’s Office needed to act swiftly.
BACKGROUND:
The training for the twelve (12) Marine Patrol Deputies had to take place in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Office Boater Safety Course on Saturday, May 3, 2025. GST Michigan Works has agreed to continue supporting the Sheriff’s Office and has agreed to cover the cost of this training for all assigned staff.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to approve payroll for twelve (12) Marine Patrol Deputies, paid for by GST Michigan Works, prior to the full Board approval of the positions.
