BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Ratification of the tentative agreement with AFSCME 496.03 Drain Maintenance
BACKGROUND:
The previous contract expired December 31, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
A tentative agreement was reached with the unit and is before the Board of Commissioners for ratification.

Implementation and administration of the new terms and conditions.

Within the approved budget for negotiations.

Long term financial stability - negotiating fair and attractive contracts increases recruitment and retention efforts while reducing the cost of turnover.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Genesee County representatives have negotiated a proposed Tentative Agreement with the AFSCME Local 496.03 Drain Maintenance unit, the changed or additional provisions of said Tentative Agreement being on file with the official records of the February 12, 2025 meeting of the Board of Commissioners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the aforesaid Tentative Agreement as negotiated by the Genesee County representatives is hereby approved and ratified, the Chairperson of this Board is authorized and directed to sign the Agreement document for and on behalf of Genesee County, Michigan, and the Director of Administration is directed to deliver a copy of the Agreement, when signed by all parties thereto, to the County Clerk/Register, who is hereby directed to place a copy of the fully signed Agreement on file with the official proceedings of this Board.
