BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) is recommending the Board of Commissioners accept the Non-Motorized Trails Construction Grant and the attached budget adjustment.
BACKGROUND:
DISCUSSION:
Earlier this Spring, Genesee County staff applied to the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation in the amount of $1,030,000.00 to be used for the construction of the four identified non-motorized trail projects. Announcement of the award was issued in anticipation of the upcoming Flint and Genesee County Trails Symposium on June 11, 2025. The event will be posted by Genesee County with support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Genesee County is proposing to provide direct, reimbursable grant commitments to the municipalities for the construction of the listed non-motorized trails. Sub-grant recipients will need to complete an application as well as provide a resolution of support from their governing body. A memorandum of agreement (MOA) will be executed once all required documents are received by Genesee County. All funds must be expended and supporting documentation by October 31, 2026.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on human resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
This will increase transportation revenues and expenditure by $1,030,000.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on Genesee County facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There is no impact on technology.
