RE: Approval of an Emergency Purchase Order request to Ecker Mechanical in an amount not to exceed $28,894.86
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of an emergency PO request to Ecker Mechanical in an amount not to exceed $28,894.86
BACKGROUND:
One of the Jail's sump pumps was failing and on no less than 3 occasions shorted out and tripped the main breaker in the Jail. Twice it occurred in the middle of the night, during a rain event. The last time we were performing maintenance, and it tripped, and we were able to positively identify the cause. With their age there was not a direct replacement therefore our vendor researched a valid replacement. We deemed this an emergency repair since we were operating on only 1 pump of unknown age or condition. Having a failure could have led to the Jail Boiler Room/Basement/ Electrical Room flooding, so we proceeded quickly to ensure that the Jail remains operational without interruption.
DISCUSSION:
See above.
