TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Genesee County, through this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan ("this Board"), has established a county-wide system of emergency telephone dispatch services for the benefit of the residents of the County; and
WHEREAS, this Board previously approved a telephone surcharge in the amount of $1.86 per month for each telephone service user to be placed on the ballot for voter approval on May 2, 2017, which was approved, and again on May 4, 2021, which was again approved; and
WHEREAS, the Membership Board of the Genesee County 9-1-1 Consortium Commission (GC911), at a meeting held on February 13, 2024, adopted a resolution requesting that a question be placed on the August 6, 2024 ballot to be voted on by the voters of Genesee County seeking to increase the surcharge to $3.00 per month for each telephone service user; and
WHEREAS, GC911 requests this Board to authorize placement of the ballot question seeking to increase the surcharge on the August 6, 2024 ballot by certifying the question to the County Clerk-Register.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the following question shall be submitted to a vote of the electorate of Genesee County, Michigan, on August 6, 2024, in a special election to be held in conjunction with the primary election scheduled for that date:
