BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to accept and expend funds for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) 25 - 2026 from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) in an amount not to exceed $625,673.00, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Funds awarded by MDHHS for CSBG 25 - 2026 in an amount not to exceed $625,673.00 to commence on October 01, 2025, and continue through September 30, 2026, is the continuation of a two-year grant originally approved by the Board of Commissioners via RES-2024-982.
DISCUSSION:
These funds give GCCARD the opportunity to work through a network of Community Action Agencies for the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to become fully self-sufficient. Approval of funds for the second year of the two-year CSBG 25 - 2026 will offer supplemental funding to GCCARD's various programs. CSBG 25 - 2026 funds are to be utilized for both administration and direct program.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
A portion of funds will be allocated to the re-hiring of previously laid-off staff.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
A budget amendment will be included in a separate request.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
