BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Sheriff's Office requests approval to eliminate the position of Director of Community Engagement and to create, post, and fill the position of Lieutenant.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the impact of GHOST on Genesee County throughout the State of Michigan and the United States, the responsibilities have only increased with the expansion of our interdiction team. The classification of Lieutenant is more appropriate to ensure both Human Trafficking and Interdiction investigations continue with proper accountability and diligence. This ensures continuity and community safety as the Interdiction team relies on experience and knowledge with current criminal activity in the area.
DISCUSSION:
This position will be covered by the GIVE grant with no additional cost to the general fund and paid from account # 2642-312.01-702.000.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
Create, post and fill one lieutenant position.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no impact on the general fund budget. With the elimination of the Director of Community Engagement the Interdiction Lieutenant position will be fully funded from the GIVE grant (account # 2642-312.01-702.000) with approval from MCOLES grant project coordinator.
