title
RE: Approval of a purchase order to Bound Tree Medical for the fiscal year ending 2027, in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, to provide for specialized medical supplies at Genesee County's Medical Examiner; the cost of this purchase order will be paid from account 1010-648.00-764.000

recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a blanket purchase order for fiscal year 26/27 to Bound Tree Medical in the amount of $5,000.00 for medical supplies to be paid from 1010-648.00-764.000 (supplies medical).
BACKGROUND:
The Medical Examiner's Office requires ongoing procurement of specialized medical supplies necessary for the proper handling, examination, and preservation of deceased individuals. These supplies include various medical consumables, which are essential to the functioning of the office. Currently, the Medical Examiner's Office must place individual purchase orders from Bound Tree for each replenishment, which can be inefficient and time-consuming.
DISCUSSION:
We are requesting approval for a Blanket Purchase Order with Bound Tree Medical, in the amount of up to $5,000.00 for the current fiscal year. This blanket order will cover the purchase of medical supplies as needed throughout the year, eliminating the need for repeated individual purchase orders and streamlining the procurement process.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
One of the primary responsibilities of a Medical Examiner's Office is to investigate and determine the cause of death in cases where it is sudden, unexpected, or suspicious. This information is vital for public health surveillance and identifying potential threats to community health and safety, such as contagious diseases or public health emergencies.
