BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of an agreement between Genesee County and Michigan State University, in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00, to assess Genesee County's Senior Service Millage distribution and community needs
BACKGROUND:
Last year, this Board approved the creation of a task force to review current allocations and need in the community around the Senior Services Millage. That group has been working over the last several months and is expected to provide recommendations in June.
DISCUSSION:
As a next step from the task force, members of this Board has had conversation with the MSU - College of Human Medicine about expanding the review of current services and needs within the Genesee County community. A more in-depth explanation of their focus, methods, and deliverables is included in the attached proposal.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on HR.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funding for this agreement will be paid for through fund balance within the Senior Services Millage from account 2231-691.00-801.004. A budget amendment is attached.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on Facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on Technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Board of County Commissioners have adopted four focus areas. One of those focus areas is Healthy, Livable & Safe Communities. This study will provide the Board with deeper understanding of the unmet needs in the community for our seniors. This will help drive funding decisions moving forward.
