BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Seeking approval of the Senior Millage Budget Recommendation #6 from the Human Services Agenda Packet
BACKGROUND:
There has been ongoing discussion about the senior millage and how best to spend the dollars in the community.
DISCUSSION:
Listed below is the funding recommendation (6), approved by the Human Services Committee, to be included in the agenda packet. 2026-2027 Budget Proposal #6 is a 3.5% inflationary flat increase to Senior Centers and increases to reduce waitlists. $200,000 for In-Home Care-Serve 58 additional clients for the year, with a new provider; $300,000 for Home Delivered Meals- Serve 90 additional clients for the year; $150,000 Medical Transportation - 1,500 additional rides for the year, with a new provider; $400,000 Lawn & Snow Maintenance - Provides an Office Administration position and serves 160 additional clients for the year.

None at this time.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The senior millage budget is fully funded by the Genesee County Senior Millage. No general funds are being requested.

The senior millage programs and services provide a range of supports that directly contribute to seniors' well-being and safety by funding initiatives that promote health, safety, and a high quality of life. The contracts additionally support the provision of free services to seniors that directly impact their financial well-being. By offering no-cost services, we can help alleviate financial burdens on seniors and help them manage their resources more effectively.
