TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, this Board of County Commissioners of Genese County, Michigan (“Board”), established the America 250 - Genesee County Commission (“America 250 Commission”) to plan events and engage residents to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary in the summer of 2026 at a celebration to be held at Genesee County’s Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad; and
WHEREAS, this Board established the membership of the America 250 Commission at 16 appointed members from a cross section of the Genesee County community; and
WHEREAS, this Board now wishes to add additional members to the America 250 Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, hereby adds the following appointed members to the America 250 Commission that are subject to this Boards Appointment Policy (Policy 01.002) and any relevant statutory authority:
• One appointee to represent Explore Flint & Genesee - to be appointed by Explore Flint & Genesee.
• One appointee to represent the Sloan Museum - to be appointed by the Sloan Museum.
• Former Lt. Governor John Cherry (D) and former State Representative Charles Mueller (R), both of whom to serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of the America 250 Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board amends the adopted budget to $50,000 and encourages the Commission to seek fundraising opportunities for related activities for their adopted budget.
