BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to accept and expend funds for the 25Water Affordability - 2026 grant award from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) in an amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Funds awarded by MDHHS in an amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00 from MDHHS for 25WAT - 2026, to commence October 1, 2025, and continue through September 30, 2026, being the continuation of a four-year grant originally approved by the Board of Commissioners via RES 2025-1714.
DISCUSSION:
The funds provided through the 25WAT - 2026 grant allow GCCARD an opportunity to continue providing eligible households throughout Genesee County assistance with water and wastewater arrearages up to $3,000 per household per fiscal year.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
A budget amendment will be provided in a separate request. The allocation of not more than $75,000.00 in general funds to fund number 2751-695.39 was previously approved via RES-2025-2285 to allow for the administration of the full $3,000,000.00 grant award without deficit.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
