RE: Approval of the appointment of the City of Montrose Mayor Pro Tem Mark Richard as the Small Citifies & Villages representative on Genesee County's Allocation Committee

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Recommending approval to appoint Mark Richard from the City of Montrose as a new member to the Allocation Committee.
BACKGROUND:
In fall 2024, a position on the Allocation Committee became vacant. Membership on the committee includes representatives from the cities, villages, townships and the County Board of Commissioners. The open position was a small cities representative. The city positions are filled through a nomination by the Genesee County chapter of the Michigan Small Cities and Villages Association.
DISCUSSION:
The Genesee County chapter of the Michigan Small Cities and Villages Association nominated City of Montrose Mayor Pro-Tem, Mark Richard, as the new representative at its March 2025 meeting.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Allocation Committee primarily reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for Community Development funded projects. The committee regularly discusses issues including housing, infrastructure, public services, public facility improvements, elimination of blight, and more. All of these types of projects align with Genesee County's goals for healthy, livable, and safe communities.
