Request for amendment of Section 22 of the Genesee County Employees' Retirement System Ordinance
BACKGROUND:
This memorandum is provided from this office to the Genesee County Board of Commissioners on behalf of the Retirement Commission of the Genesee County Employees' Retirement System in light of the Retirement Commission's discussions with the Road Commission and its voluntary retirement eligibility for non-union employees.
DISCUSSION:
Section 22 of the Retirement Ordinance provides for the voluntary service requirements for all benefit groups under the Retirement System. It has come to the Retirement Commission's attention that the current provisions of Section 22 do not correctly address the applicable voluntary service requirements for non-union Road Commission members. It is this office's position that the Retirement Ordinance should be amended to accurately reflect those voluntary service requirements.
Accordingly, please find attached a proposed Amendment to the Retirement Ordinance for your consideration that fully addresses the requested changes to Section 22 of the Retirement Ordinance.
