Approval of a request to assign General Fund fund balance for for deficit reductions of $2,702,000 and capital improvements of an additional $1,300,000
BACKGROUND:
Assign the fund balance amounts for specific uses in accordance with GASB Statement No. 54.
DISCUSSION:
Upon review of fund balance amounts at the end of fiscal year September 30,2025, it was concluded to recommend that we assign fund balance for these two purposes. The deficit reduction is for the upcoming deficit elimination plan for the active healthcare included in the Self-insured Medical fund. This will still maintain at least 2 months' worth of operating expenses in unassigned fund balance which is the recommendation of the GFOA (Government Finance Officers Association).
