BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to approve a purchase order to Abbott Nutrition for Ensure-liquid nutrition, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Ensure is provided to eligible Genesee County seniors enrolled in the Senior Nutrition Program. It is delivered to seniors once a month per prescription from their physician approved by Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) & Genesee County Office of Senior Services (GCOSS) Senior Millage. Ensure is no longer available in large quantities via third party vendors. Abbott Nutrition is the direct manufacturer of Ensure and is now direct shipping. Nutrition Services has an obligation to provide Ensure to eligible seniors per our contract with both VAAA & GCOSS (Senior Millage). These are budgeted expenses in GCCARD's approved FY2023-2024 budget.
DISCUSSION:
This purchase order runs from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, and is to be utilized by GCCARD's Nutrition Services program. The expenses listed in this memorandum are available as per GCCARD's approved Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024 budget.

None.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds for this purchase order will be available in the following fund accounts: 2731-697.14-762.000 for $63,596.00; 2731-697.15-762.000 for $110,322.00; 2733-697.15-762.000 for $68,082.00. No General Fund dollars are being requested.
