RE: GCMPC Public Participation Plan Update
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
No action requested, this memo is for informational purposes only.
BACKGROUND:
The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) administers several federal and State of Michigan programs for the Flint-Genesee County area, such as the Community Development Block Grant Program, Federal Highway Administration Programs, Federal Transit Administration Programs, and the Materials Management Program. A major component of these programs is the assurance that public participation is provided for and encouraged throughout the planning process. The planning process GCMPC follows is outlined and guided by the GCMPC Public Participation Plan (PPP). The purpose of the Public Participation Plan is to outline the process and methods we use to collect community input/concerns and educate the public on our programs.
DISCUSSION:
A draft update of the Public Participation Plan has been completed and is out for public review and comment from August 3, 2026 until September 17th, 2026. This comment period is an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the plan. Comments may be made in person or by mail, telephone, facsimile, or e-mail.
After the public participation period and incorporation of comments, staff will bring the updated Public Participation Plan to committees for approval.
The draft Public Participation Plan can be found at the following link: https://gcmpc.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/2026-Public-Participation-Plan-July-Draft.pdf
