RE: Accommodation tax support for various events

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of various events to receive grants from the Accommodation Tax fund balance.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of County Commissioners have provided support to various events to help draw tourists and provide economic stimulus in the county. In working with our contractor, The Flint & Genesee Group, multiple events/organizations are seeking support for the upcoming year.
DISCUSSION:
Several organizations have requested funding for the upcoming year. The attached spreadsheet lists the expected room nights as well as economic impact of each event. In total, these entities are requesting $103,000 in funding which is expected to yield an economic impact of over $3 million.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funding for these requests will be paid from the current fund balance in the Accommodation Tax Fund.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on Facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on Technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Board of County Commissioners have prioritized Community and Economic Growth. By supporting entities that provide economic value to our area, they are building community while adding to the economic well-being of the County.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, authorizes funding the Flint City Bucks ($15,000), the Midwest Invitational Rodeo ($20,000), the Gus Macker - Flint ($20,000), the Genesee County Fair ($40,000), and the Firestix College Exposure event ($8,000), and appropriating a total amount of $103,000.00 for fiscal year...
