BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Requesting approval to create post and fill one Fiscal Intern position. Funds are available in the current budget.

BACKGROUND:
Our office was contacted by a local student seeking an accounting internship. The individual would work up to 20 hours a week for 14 weeks to complete internship requirements. Fiscal Services hired our previous Fiscal Services Intern into a full-time Financial Analyst position.

DISCUSSION:
Funding is available within the current Fiscal budget to cover this position.This is a temporary, no benefit position at $15.76/hour with total cost of up to $4,764. 

IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
Human resources will post and fill the position.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Costs are included in the current year budget.

IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
None.

IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
Computer set up and user creation.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:

BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Chief Financial Officer to authorize establishing, posting, and filling one new Fiscal Intern position, said new position requiring no additional County appropriation, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the May 6, 2026 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
