recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a request for architectural services for modifications to two (2) spaces at Circuit Court for a combined total not to exceed $55,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
Circuit Court is requesting modifications to two separate areas of the Circuit Courthouse.  First, an area on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse that once housed the Clerk’s Office Vital and Elections Divisions would be minimally renovated to provide 2 offices to accommodate the Financial Division.  Secondly, the 1st floor that once held some Referee’s and now houses the Financial Division would receive minimum renovations to accommodate relocating the Juvenile Probation Offices from the McCree and Human Services Building.  Approximately 12 staff.  Work would include Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical, and Construction Phase Assistance.
DISCUSSION:
By completing these renovations and moving the Juvenile Probation department, which is administered from Circuit Court, it will allow that vacated space in McCree to be utilized by the Public Defender’s Office, as they have outgrown their space and need additional office space to accommodate.  This space is directly adjacent to the current Public Defenders space and would need little to no further modifications.
