BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office requests approval to enter into an agreement with Hurley Medical Center to provide dedicated law enforcement patrol, investigative services, and emergency preparedness assistance for the term of October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027.
BACKGROUND:
Hurley Medical Center has called upon the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office to provide dedicated police protection services, as well as assist in the preparation of, and training for, emergency preparedness plans across the hospital campus. Under the proposed agreement for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, the Sheriff’s Office will assign five (5) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) MCOLES-certified police officers to provide continuous 24/7 patrol coverage, predominantly focused on patient care areas such as the Main Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Department, Prompt Care, and Triage. The agreement also includes detective services to process arrest warrants and conduct investigative interviews arising from hospital incidents.

IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
Five (5) FTE certified police officers will be assigned to dedicated patrol and investigative coverage at Hurley Medical Center by the Sheriff’s Office. There will be no immediate impact on HR.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
