BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Request for approval of four (4) union contracts: AFSCME 496.00, 496.01, 916, and COAM Sergeants.
BACKGROUND:
Human Resources and Labor Relations has negotiated and tentatively agreed with four (4) different unions for contracts for three-year terms.
DISCUSSION:
Contract negotiations have taken place between AFSCME 496.00, 496.01, 916 and COAM Sergeants unions. We have reached tentative agreements, and those unions have voted to approve the presented agreements.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
Implementation and management of all settled union contracts.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Budgetary constraints were maintained consistent with discussions had during closed session strategy meetings.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
None
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
None
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
Authorizing union contracts help to create long term financial stability and a collaborative culture for Genesee County. Genesee County performed a compensation study, has negotiated the results from the study and is able to have long term financial stability with the ratification of these contracts. Contract negotiations can create turmoil and unrest for all parties involved. Ratifying these contracts will help to reestablish a more collaborative culture within Genesee County.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Genesee County representatives have negotiated proposed Tentative Agreements with AFSCME 496.00, 496.01, 916, and COAM Sergeants, the changed or additional provisions of said Tentative Agreements being on file with the official records of the January 15, 2025 meeting of this Board.
