RE: Request to Accept FY2024 OHSP Grant Award for Genesee County Sobriety Court

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
67th District Court respectfully requests approval to accept the Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) grant award through the State Court Administrative Office in the amount of $28,000 for fiscal year 2024 to provide funding for the Genesee County Sobriety Court (GCSC). Approval was received by the Board of Commissioners through Resolution 2023-314 to apply for the grant.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County Sobriety Court is in its 8th year of operation. GCSC maintains its operation with the assistance of funding through grants.
DISCUSSION:
The funding received from OHSP will assist in sustaining the operations of the Genesee County Sobriety Court. OHSP grant does not require matching funds.

None
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The fund account is 2927-286.02. An amendment is necessary to align the budget with the actual award amount (attached). The OHSP grant does not require matching County funds.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The OHSP grant money advances the priority of safe communities by enhancing public safety by providing the tools, resources, and support necessary for alcohol-dependent offenders to attain and maintain sobriety.
